State of the Institute

The Krasnow Institute for Advanced Study enters its 19th year with unprecedented growth in both the breadth and depth of its research portfolio while at the same time facing the turbulence of the Global Economic Crisis, the largest economic downturn since the Great Depression of the 1930's. Nevertheless, the Institute, on the basis of the reciprocal benefits arising from its status as an academic unit of George Mason University, is extraordinarily well-positioned to enter its third decade next year. In this talk, I'll summarize my vision of where we are as an institute for advanced study and where we should position ourselves to go in the coming years.
