Fun and Excitement with Inhibition John Rinzel Center for Neural Science and Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University With several examples I will demonstrate how inhibition can facilitate neuronal spiking and how purely inhibitory networks can show rhythmogenesis, synchrony, and bistabilty. For some activity patterning the time scale of inhibition is very important.
