Krasnow Institute > Monday Seminars > Abstracts Dr. Tomaso Poggio -- Biographical Sketch Dr. Poggio is a world authority in artificial intelligence. He holds the position of Whitaker Professor of Vision Sciences and Biophysics at the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT and is co-director of MIT's Center for Biological and Computational Learning (CBCL). Dr. Poggio has some 300 international publications (of which over 20 are in Science, Nature, or Trends in Neuroscience), 11 patents, and 4 books authored/edited. He sits on the editorial board of 23 major scientific journals and is or was member of the scientific/review committees of Princeton, MaxPlanck, Riken, and the Neuroscience Institute. His past students include Koch, Borgh-Graham, Maruyana, Shimon Edelman, and W. Yang. His current research focuses on the application of new learning techniques to time series analysis, object recognition, adaptive control and computer graphics.
