Renown scientist and MacArthur Fellowship awardee Stuart Kauffman gave the Monday seminar at the Krasnow institute on November 17. He discussed the regulation of gene networks.

Krasnow Director Jim Olds visited Krasnow Advisory Board member Patricia Kluge at her vineyard near Charlottesville, Virginia, on July 15 to discuss future development plans. Accompanying Dr. Olds was Krasnow Development Officer Melissa K. Drane (not pictured).

Lech Walesa visits Krasnow Institute

On the evening of June 17, the Krasnow Institute was the site of a reception in honor of Lech Walesa, nobel prize winner and former president of Poland. Provost Stearns presented Walesa with a small gift. Speaking through an interpreter, Walesa made opening remarks to guests and then spent time talking informally to individuals. Morowitz receives grant

Harold J. Morowitz has received notification of a grant from the John Templeton Foundation to study “The Search for Biological Laws at a Hierarchical Level of Intermediary Metabolism.” Support from private foundations such as Templeton and The Whitaker Foundation has complimented the Institute's support from federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health.
